Neev Reading Challenge
The NLF Reading Challenge is designed to encourage children to read more, reflect on and discuss their reading, engage with authors, and connect with fellow young readers. It includes a curated list of books of varying difficulty, along with author interactions that are timed to align with students’ reading schedules, all leading up to a final quiz.
Students from Parikrma have participated in the challenge each year, and in 2024, we held additional support sessions for students from grades 4 to 6 who signed up. However, the level and pace of the reading was more demanding than what the students were used to, and many found it difficult to keep up. As a result, we adapted by treating the sessions as additional reading time rather than strictly following the challenge timeline.
Looking ahead, we hope to work more closely with the teachers to create a better support structure for participating students, ensuring they can keep pace with the challenge. We’re also exploring the idea of scaling down the NLF Reading Challenge to create a version tailored to the students' reading levels and pace—one that could serve as a meaningful culmination to each cycle of our reading program within the school.
